Microcam 3D Tube ID Scanner

The complete inside geometry of a tube such as inner diameters, chamfers, rifling and grooves can be scanned and inspected in every detail.

The inspected features are defined by either CAD drawings or a list of locations, nominals and tolerances.

The standard tube inspection configuration deploys a 5 mm diameter probe and provides a scanning depth of 660 mm (26 inches). Other configurations and probe diameters are available on request. Portable and stationary solutions – rotating probe or rotating tube configuration are available.


Part Handling

The part fixture is designed specifically to make handling easy and to ensure good repeatability. The operators do not need to mount the tube to an exact position, which simplifies their task considerably. The Microcam references on actually measured features such as the tube mouth and the axial center of symmetry of the tube.

The scans are defined once by teaching and later executed at the push of a button. During teaching the scan stroke is set with manual movements controlled by a joystick.



The example shows 3D models measured with the Microcam and inspected with a turnkey integrated third-party CAD software package of your choice.

High resolution scans allow for a detailed surface inspection. Dimensional and surface defects are detected and flagged to the operator.  Extremely small porosities can be detected due to micron scale scanning beam diameter.




Inspections follow predefined protocols and report generation is automated
